Abstract

999,133. Switches held set and freed mechanically. A. McKINVEN. Aug. 16, 1961 [Oct. 4, 1960] No. 33948/60. Heading H2B. [Also in Division G4] A single switch operates both the turning indicators 10 and another " pass " indicator 11. The switch is mounted on the steering column and a stalk 14 is pivoted upwards and downwards to make the L.H. and R.H. turning circuits 15, 16 respectively, and in order to light lamp 11 a button 17 on the end of a spring- loaded plunger 18 is operated to engage a locking rod 19 in a socket 20 to complete the necessary electric circuit and also to prevent pivoting of stalk 14 and thus the operation of the turning indicator. A catch and catch release 22 are provided for the locking rod. A flasher unit may be included in all the circuits and panel lights 23, 25, 24 are included in the circuitry. A pivotal switch having three positions may replace the switch described (Fig. 2, not shown).
