998,932. Measuring machines. SOC. GENEVOISE D'INSTRUMENTS DE PHYSIQUE. Dec. 13, 1961 [March 23, 1961], No. 44601/61. Heading G1M. A measuring machine comprises a displaceable table 3, slide 4 and holder 5. The holder 5 has a removable microscope 6 and each of the members 3, 4, 5 has a standard scale which is projected respectively on to screens 10, 10a, 10b. The number of complete divisions of the standard scales through which each of the members 3, 4 is moved is indicated, by means of a rotatable drum 12 provided with a spring 21 to take up back-lash in windows 13, 13a. Screen 10a is provided with a reticule 14a Fig. 5 (not shown) divided into tenths of a division and a rotary disc divided into hundredths of a division the two being geared together so that the disc moves through ten divisions while the reticule moves one division 1. The disc and reticule are adjusted until the projected scale division coincides with a division on the reticule. Both the reticule and the disc can be numbered in increasing or decreasing order. The indicating member 18 on drum 12 is held frictionally and can be adjusted by means 23.
