998,644. Mixing-apparatus. HALSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHOENIX G.m.b.H. Feb. 15, 1963 [Feb. 28, 1962], No. 6162/63. Heading B1C. The effective churning length or volume of a churn having a rotatable, motor-driven beater mounted therein and having an inlet 3 and outlet 5 can be varied. This may be effected by inserting into the inlet end a spacer 6, Fig. 2, with a bore communicating with the churn inlet, the original full-length beater, Fig. 1 (not shown), being replaced by a shorter one. In a modification, Fig. 3, the beater motor 4 is mounted on a slide 9 whereby a member 11 may be displaced as desired in the churning cylinder so as tc vary the effective length of the beater.
