998,428. Presses for separating liquids from solids. MIBIS MERKANTILA INGENIORSBYRAN A.B. June 30, 1964 [Sept. 26, 1963 ; April 30, 1964], No. 26937/64. Heading BID. A perforated plunger 14 has secured to it a perforated plate 17 which, when plunger 14 is moved to the left, slides in guides 23 across the mouth of a funnel 8 and underneath a knife 22 ; knife 22 serves to cut off the compressed portion of material from that remaining in the funnel 8 above the plate 17. After a time, a plate 10 is retracted, and press plunger 14 moves forward further to expel the cake. Electrically-driven cams 28, 29 operate valves 30, 31 (connected to cylinders 15, 12 respectively) in sequence. Liquid is discharged at 20.
