998,049. Making electrodes for electron multipliers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 1, 1962 [Nov. 3, 1961], No. 41393/62. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H1] A slatted electrode for an electron multiplier comprises a row of parallel elements b, d, Fig. 1, disposed in planes oblique to the plane of the electrode, and includes two interengaging flat supporting frames A, B, each of which is integral with half of the elements. In each frame, the elements are formed by punching so that each element m 1 is secured to opposite sides BL, Fig. 2a, of the frame by a tag L at each end, these tags being twisted when the elements are turned through an angle # so as to be oblique to the frame. The two frames are then assembled together with the elements of one located between those of the other frame. Each frame and its associated elements, may be formed in a press-tool, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprising a supporting jig and cutter supported between toothed press-members.
