Abstract

997,519. Mineral-mining machines; dust suppression. DEMAG A. G. Feb. 9, 1962 [Feb. 22, 1961], No. 5126/62. Heading E1F. A frusto-conical cutter head 11 is mounted at and about one end of a boom 3 that at the other end is mounted about a pivot 2a supported in a bearing on a tube 1e that is rotatably supported in the body 1 of the machine for rotation about an axis at right angles to the axis of the pivot 2a. Double acting hydraulic jacks 4, 5, 6 are provided for swinging the boom 3 relative to the post 1e and the post 1e relative to the body 1 so that the cutter head 11 can transverse a face to detach mineral therefrom after it has been sumped into the face on actuation of the hydraulic jack system 25, 26, 33, 34 that enables the body to be advanced intermittently. Detached mineral is carried across the front of the body of the machine by a transversely extending conveyer 38 that can be both swung vertically and advanced and retracted relative to the body on which it is mounted. This conveyer, a paddle type scraper conveyer, discharges onto a rearward extending conveyer 3a disposed at one side of the machine. Jacks 8, 9, 10 are vertically mounted in the body 1 to secure the body against movement when the cutter head is traversing the face. Passages 18, 17, 16 are provided for the delivery.
