Abstract
Fibre reinforced cementitious articles are produced by autoclaving at 50-600 p.s.i.g. for 2-36 hours a hydrated mass of 12.5-85% by weight of ground granulated blast furnace slag having a crystalline content of less than about 15% by weight thereof, 0.25-32% by weight of calcium silicate with a water solubility providing at least 0.1 g. of CaO per litre and at least 2 mols of CaO per mol of SiO2, 10-75% by weight of silica, 0-27.5% by weight of calcium sulphate together with 5-50% by weight of the hydrated mass of a reinforcing inorganic fibre, e.g. asbestos. The calcium silicate employed may be Portland cement and the calcium sulphate may be anhydrite or plaster of Paris.
