996,667. Chains. CHAIN BELT CO. Nov. 15, 1963 [May 13, 1963], No. 45188/63. Heading B8A. A conveyer or other sprocket-driven chain consists of outer links 2, 3 of conventional plate- and pin construction and inner links 1 made in one piece from a stamped out blank as shown in Fig. 1, the assembled chain incorporating loose bearing bushes 10 fitted on the pins 5. The portions 11 of the blank provide the inner link plates and the portions 13a, bent into U shape, provide outwardly open barrels 13 connecting the plates. The length of each bush 10 is less than the space between the plates 11 but greater than the length of the outer edges of the barrels 13. The bushes are free to rotate both in the barrels and on the pins, but the fit of the bushes in the barrels is sufficiently tight for the bushes to turn on the pins rather than in the barrels at least when the chain is new.
