Abstract

996,280. Reciprocating pumps and compressors. PUMPENFABRIK URACH G.m.b.H. July 23, 1963 [July 26, 1962], No. 29224/63. Headings F1A and F1N. A readily dismantled high pressure pump or compressor assembly, e.g. for high temperature chemicals or boiler feed water, comprises a cylinder block 11 housing a piston 25 and removable check valves 36, 38, and detachably secured, e.g. by bolts 24, 24a, to a manifold block 12 detachably secured, e.g. by bolts 23, to a main housing 10. In the embodiment shown, three separate cylinder blocks 11 are mounted on a common manifold block 12. Piston 25 has seals 27 compressed by a screw 26, and is coupled to a crosshead 13 through a detachable coupling 28 permitting alignment of the components. Crossheads 13 are coupled to a crankshaft. A cooling chamber 12a surrounds the cylinder casing. A heating or cooling plate, e.g. heated electrically or by a fluid, may be inserted between cylinder block and manifold block faces 22 and 22a, to heat or cool the liquid pumped, e.g. for heating tar
