Abstract
A method of heating the blast for a blast furnace comprises adding a fuel selected from the group consisting of blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, denatured gas, heavy oil, light oil, and creosote oil, to the cold blast between a blower and a hot blast stove and burning the fuel at this position. The amount of heat to be added by the stoves is thereby reduced and the time of stoves on "blast" is increased.
