Abstract
996,180. Hydraulic shock absorbers. LEMFORDER METALLWARENGESELLSCHAFT m.b.H. June 26, 1961 [June 25, 1960], No. 23040/61. Heading F2S. The piston rod 2 of a telescopic shock absorber 3 extends through a resilient buffer 4 which is made of a cellular plastics material, e.g. foamed polyurethane. The buffer, which is preferably reinforced by a skin 6 of harder plastics material may have a conical shape and may comprise separate layers as indicated in broken lines. An annular space 10 between the buffer 4 and a protective tube 8 allows the buffer to expand laterally under compressive load. The buffer may be made of two or more layers of differing elasticities.
