Abstract

1,014,856. Fenders. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Oct. 2, 1962 [Oct. 7, 1961], No. 36124/61. Heading B7S. [Also in Division B5] A ship's fender 12 comprises a hollow cylindrical section 13 and cup-shaped end portion 14, provided with a suspension attachment 15 and an inflation valve. The lower end is fitted with eye-pieces 26, which may be replaced by pockets, for carrying ballast weights. The fender is constructed of multi-layer fabric and plastic material such as natural or synthetic rubber or polyvinyl-chloride, and has greater bursting strength transverse to its axis than longitudinally. Suspension attachment 15 comprises an eye portion 16 secured to a cone portion 17 inside and bonded to end portion 14 of the fender.
