Abstract

The vehicle is fitted with a two stage hydraulic damper which effectively shortens its stroke when subjected to large displacements. This is especially useful for aircraft landing on rough runways where they could distort their suspension. The damper has a floating piston (40) separating two gas fluid systems and the damper housing is in two telescopic sections (18, 21), with one of the sections sliding into the other to form a shorter damper, as required.
