Abstract

Substituted 3-amino guanidines are prepared by reacting the corresponding iso-thiouronium iodide with hydrazine hydrate. 1 - (o - methoxy - phenyl) - 3 - aminoguanidine-hydroiodide is prepared by refluxing N-(o-methoxyphenyl)-thiourea and methyl iodide in acetone and heating the iso-thio-uronium salt obtained with hydrazine hydrate to give the aminoguanidine salt. 1 - n - hexadecyl - 3 - aminoguanidine - hydroiodide is prepared by refluxing benzoyl isothiocyanate with n-hexadecylamine to give N-n-hexadecyl-N1-benzoyl-thiourea. The thiourea is refluxed in alcoholic caustic soda to give N-n-hexadecyl-thiourea which with methyl iodide gives N - n - hexadecyl - S - methyl isothiouronium iodide which on refluxing with hydrazine hydrate gives the amino-guanidine salt. 1 - (p - cetyloxyphenyl) - 3 - aminoguanidine is prepared by refluxing benzoyl isothiocyanate with p-cetoxyaniline, refluxing the thiourea obtained with alcoholic caustic soda, treating the product with methyl iodide and then hydrazine hydrate as above.
