Abstract
994,421. Two-part couplings. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Sept. 7, 1960], No. 30787/60. Heading H2E. A flat spring contact comprises a resilient metal strip 4 having at least a surface zone 7 or 8 of good electrical conductivity and folded an even number of times in acute angles such as 9 and 10 facing in opposite directions with one of the free ends 14 folded to engage the rear surface of a bend 9 retaining the adjacent end portion in a pre-tensioned position. The other free end of the strip projects through an aperture 15 in the base of a socket member 1 and is staggered at 16 to maintain the bend 10 clear of the base. As shown, the base is channel-shaped and contains two banks of contacts arranged opposite each other and separated by a ridge 3 so as to receive between them a printed-circuit panel 10. The contact strip may be formed of laminated material incorporating alternate layers of material of high conductivity and material of high elasticity.
