Abstract

A paint comprises 76 gms. of a zinc pigment in the form of lanellae 0.16 m thick and specific surface area of 2m2/g, 24 gms. of a binding agent comprising a copolymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride and a solvent comprising xylene, methyl isobutyl ketone and butyl acetate.ALSO:A paint comprises on the one hand highly dispersed lamellar zinc particles having a mean thickness less than 0.5 microns and a specific surface area (expressed in square metres per gram) of between 1 and 4 and on the other hand, one or more binders in a percentage by weight equal numerically to 12 times the actual specific surface area of the zinc particles (expressed in square metres per gram). Specified binding agents are cyclised rubber, chlorinated rubber, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymer, acrylic acid resins, phthalic acid resins, amino resins and one or two component lacs with an amine hardener.
