Abstract

1405284 Magnetic coating compositions FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 21 Aug 1972 [21 Aug 1971] 38848/72 Heading C3P A coating composition comprises a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate; an organic polyisocyanate compound; and a reactive acrylic or methacrylic resin having 1-30% by weight of carboxy groups which are curable by reaction with the polyisocyanate compound, the resin being a copolymer of methacrylic acid or acrylic acid with acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or itaconic acid. The molar ratio of vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate may be 70/30 to 98/2 Up to 80% of the vinyl copolymer may be substituted by a vinylidene chloride copolymer or acrylonitrile copolymer. Examples describe the inclusion of magnetic particles, e.g. γ-Fe 2 O 3 , in resin mixtures, followed by addition of the resulting suspensions to liquid acrylic copolymeric mixtures.
