Abstract

993,002. Valves. M. GORDON. Sept. 16, 1963 [Sept. 26, 1962], No. 36314/63. Heading F2V. [Also in Division B8] In a valve for controlling the delivery from the discharge spout 10, of a hopper 11, of finelydivided powder or liquid, the valve member 12 is an integrally moulded sleeve of resilient rubberlike material the outlet whereof is formed of lips 12a which are biased by leaf-springs 15 to an open position, when the hopper is under an internal vacuum, or to a closed position when the hopper is under internal pressure. For use in the former application the valve member 12 is secured in position by clips 13 in opposite sides of the spout 10 and the springs 15 are retained within moulded-in pockets 14a of the sleeve 12 and the spring tension is adjustable, about fulcrum X, by thumb nuts 17.
