Abstract
992,810. Cleaning gas. A. L. TANNER, and M. G. TANNER. [representative of R. E. TANNER]. Dec. 13, 1962 [Oct. 20, 1961], No. 37661/61. Heading B1R. Dust entraining gas is cleaned by being brought into violent contact with and passed through a body of water to which a surface tension reducing agent has been added and the temperature of which is above atmospheric. The velocity of the gas is at least 1000 feet per minute and is increased as the degree of pollution of the gas increases. In the drawing, combustion gases from a furnace 1 pass through an expansion chamber 2 and are forced by a blower 3 through the vessel 5 containing water to which has been added a surface tension reducing agent. The temperature of the liquid in the vesel 5 is initially raised by a heating coil 11.
