Abstract
992,619. Electric blasting fuzes. PRAKLA GESELLSCHAFT FUR PRAKTISCHE LAGERSTATTENFORSCHUNG G.m.b.H. Oct. 14, 1963 [Oct. 16, 1962], No. 40372/63. Heading F3A. A device for firing explosive charges comprises an acoustic transducer connected to the input of a monostable blocking oscillator circuit which includes a transistor, the transistor being non-conductive in the state of rest and receiving the electrical energy for the detonation of a fuze in an explosive charge from a capacitor chargeable through a rectifier. A borehole 1 may be filled with explosive charges 3, 3a, 3b, 3c, the uppermost charge 3 being fired by conventional fuze means 4 activated by a charger 5, while the lower charges are provided with acoustic devices 6, 6a, 6b connected to detonators 7, 7a, 7b, respectively. Each acoustic device is activated by a charger 9 connected through a rectifier 21, Fig. 2, with a capacitor 19, so that when a sound wave generated by the explosion of charge 3 arrives at the transducer 11 of acoustic device 6, the transistor 12 becomes conductive. This in turn renders a transistor 13 conductive and puts the capacitor 19 in circuit with an impulse transformer 14, 15, 18 connected to the detonator 7. The charge 3a is thus detonated and generates a wave in phase with the wave from the charge 3. The process is repeated through charges 3b and 3c, so that a high-energy wave arrives at the bottom of the borehole, which wave can be used for geophysical measurements. The charges may also be arranged in adjacent boreholes.
