A stack of monocrystalline semi - conductor rectifier elements 1 and heat sinks 2 is clamped together by means of bolts and conical resilient members 5 which abut against end plates 4. The rectifier elements 1 alternate with inserts 6 which may be electrically either conductive or non-conductive.
