Abstract

A bronze comprises 5 - 8% of aluminium, 0.05-4% of iron, 0.01-5% of nickel, 0.01-5% of manganese, 0.01-2% of tin, and 0.01-5% of zinc, the balance being copper. It may be welded using an alloy of similar composition but greater aluminium content, say 8-11%, to compensate for losses of this metal during welding.
