Abstract

A rocking chair 1 comprises a non-rocking base 4 and a seat 2 having a substantially horizontal supporting surface 2a. The seat is rockably mounted on the non-rocking base via contacting rocking surfaces 3<SP>1</SP>, 7. The level of the rocking surfaces is closer to the supporting surfaces than to floor level. The level of the rocking surfaces may be arranged either above or below the level of the supporting surface. Preferably, the rocking surfaces of the seat and/or the non-rocking base are curved. Typically, the seat also comprises two arms 5 in which the rocking surfaces may be located. Another rocking chair is disclosed which comprises a seat rockably mounted on a non-rocking base via contacting rocking surfaces, wherein at least the rocking surface of the non-rocking base is curved.
