In a glazing window assembly the pane 3 is held in the frame rebate 2 by beading or clips 4 secured to the frame and a plurality of resilient seating and spacing U-sectioned elements 5 are applied at intervals over some or all of the edges of the pane and are embedded in the glazing compound 6 and separated from one another thereby, the width of the elements 5 between the limbs at the base being equal to the pane thickness of the limbs being so disposed as to grip the pane with a push fit. The longer limb of the element 5 is placed on the inner side of the pane and the limbs may be mutually parallel, or have at least the inner surfaces thereof inwardly inclined or curved to give a minimum width of channel a little less than the glass thickness or have projections or depressions on the inner surfaces e.g. as shown in Fig. 4 to increase their gripping action.
