Abstract

A length of foraminous, metallic, stiffening material is bonded over the whole of one surface to a broader length of fibrous material which is folded over opposite edges of the stiffening material and the folded part is bonded to the reverse surface of the stiffening material. An additional layer of consolidating material may be similarly bonded on to the reverse surface of the stiffening material. Such media is used in filters of either panel form or cylindrical shapes. Bonding apparatus, in the form of heated rollers, may be used in bonding the layers of material together, and the bonded material may be fed into a crimping machine.
