Abstract

The invention comprises 4-(N-monoacyl)-5-fluoro-cytosines and a process for their preparation comprising acylating 5-fluoro-cytosine. The acylation may be carried out by merely mixing the 5-fluoro-cytosine with the acylating agent at a temperature up to the reflux temperature in the presence of an inert organic solvent, e.g. pyridine or N,N-dimethyl-formamide. A small excess of the acylating agent may be used if desired.
