989,389. Magnetic compositions. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Dec. 20, 1962 [Jan. 12, 1962], No. 48212/62. Heading H1H. A ferromagnetic core having a squareness ratio of 0À70 and a Curie temperature of at least 590‹ C. comprises a ceramic of sintered particles having the nolal composition: where Me is at least one of the metals Cd, Zn Mg, Mo, w is from 0À00 to 0À15, x is from 0À005 to 0À55 when Me is Cd, Zn or Mg, and from 0À005 to 0À02 when Me is Mo, y is from 2À35 to 2À50. In preparation a mixture of oxides or compounds yielding the composition is calcined in air at between 800‹ and 1000‹ C. for four hours, attrited and dried, mixed with a binder, screened through an 80 mesh screen, pressed into toroidal cores, sintered at between 1050 degrees and 1150 degrees for 1 to 24 hours in an atmosphere consisting of an inert gas and oxygen in the volumetric ratio of 9 : 1 to 79 : 1, annealed in an atmosphere containing 4 to 6 parts N 2 to 1 part O 2 at a temperature between 900‹ and 1100‹ C., preferably lower than the sintering temperature, and cooled to room temperature in the annealing atmosphere. The annealing may be performed after cooling the sintered body to room temperature. The inert gas may be N 2 , A, Ne, He, or mixtures thereof.
