988,658. Clamps; stud and socket fastenings. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Dec. 24, 1963 [Dec. 26, 1962], No. 50995/63. Heading E2B. A resilient clip for retaining a close spiral spring, or like cylindrical body 20 having a spiral groove or ridged surface, on a support, includes two opposed arms 34, 38 joined at one end and provided with co-operating latch means 40, 46 at their free ends, the first arm 38 carrying a plurality of barbs 48 for engagement between the turns of the spiral, the second arm 34 carrying spiral-engaging portions 16 and the latch means being adapted to shift the two arms relative to each other and longitudinally of the spiral when the arms of the clip are closed thereabout, whereby the spiral-engaging portions 16 of the second arm are displaced from engagement between adjacent convolutions and are forced each to engage one coil of the spiral and resiliently urge the latter into engagement with the barbs 48. As shown the arm 38 includes a stud portion 10, the legs 12 of which carry tangs 32 for retaining the stud portion 10 in an aperture in a support 24.
