Abstract

988,345. Snow ploughs. ARPS CORPORATION. Jan. 23, 1964 [Sept. 9, 1963], No. 2968/64. Heading E1G. A snow plough has a forwardly opening hood 10 and at least one freely pivotable chopping blade 30 carried by a horizontal rotatable shaft such that snow entering due to forward motion of the hood is pulverized before discharge whereas the blade yields to obstructions. The hood 10 has reversible hardened edges 11 and side deflector plates and leads to a cylindrical impeller housing 15 having means 21, 22 for attachment to a driving vehicle. Pairs of articulated blades 30 are carried on cross-arms 27, 29, fixed to the shaft 24 which also carries an impeller 16, the shaft being supported by a first bearing 28 on a strut 33 and a second bearing carried by the rear wall 19 of the impeller casing 15. The impeller delivers snow through a duct 36 to a discharge chute 35 having means for adjustably directing the flow horizontally and vertically.
