987,787. Rolling threads. G. K. N. SCREWS & FASTENERS Ltd. Oct. 4, 1962 [Oct. 14, 1961], No. 36957/61. Heading B3M. A die 12, for use in producing screws having spaced threads, has ribs 14 of flat topped or rounded form which are provided at the leading end A-A of the die with grooves 19, of smaller depth than the main grooves formed between adjacent ribs, which decrease in depth until they disappear at the finishing end D-D of the die. One or more grooves 19 per rib may be used and they can be sharp or rounded. The invention is applicable to arcuate or rotary dies, and where two reciprocating dies 12 are used one may have grooves 19 which extend along the die with a constant depth.
