Abstract

986,945. Latches. H. S. GOODWIN. Oct. 10, 1963 [July 4, 1963], No. 26524/63. Heading E2A. Retaining means for engaging, a slidable latch bolt 9 of a door when closed comprises a catch 5 pivoted in a casing 1 having an aperture 3 through which the latch bolt 9 passes as the door moves to a closed position. The latch bolt engages the catch 5, and moves it about a pivot 4 until catch 5 drops, to hold the latch bolt in position. The latch bolt may be withdrawn to release the door by turning the door handle. The catch is preferably formed of synthetic resin.
