Abstract

Straight chain compounds are separated in the form of urea adducts from mixtures of hydrocarbons and/or hydrocarbon derivatives by partly freeing the starting mixture from adduct inhibitors by known treatment with sulphuric acid or fuller's earth or other solid adsorbent, adding to the thus treated mixture granules of urea, having an average grain size of 0.1-0.3 mm. and a maximum grain size not exceeding 0.5 mm., wetted with a small amount of a solvent for urea, and also an inoculation dose of finished product, whereby after continuous stirring there is obtained a solid non-crumbly adduct with a grain size which attains and often even exceeds that of the urea.
