Abstract

986,400. Disc brakes for twin wheels. RECHERCHES ETUDES PRODUCTION, R.E.P. June 20, 1962 [June 28, 1961], No. 23821/62. Heading F2E. A disc brake arrangement for twin wheels, which is detachable and repairable for either wheel, comprises a housing 2, mounted on a common shaft 1 and integral with the structure of the vehicle, on which the housing 2 is mounted a centre support block 3 housing the axiallymovable elements of the brake, e.g. hydraulically actuated pistons 10a, 10b on which are mounted friction pads 8a, 8b, so that axial movement of elements causes axially slidable brake discs 6a to be urged against friction pads 9a, 9b carried by plates 12a, 12b which are interconnected by means of two bolts 13. An alternative arrangement is disclosed in the Specification (Fig. 4, not shown), wherein a multi-disc brake is associated with each wheel situated as in the above case between the wheels. Another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) discloses a disc brake having a plurality of hydraulic applying pistons.
