Abstract

The invention comprises acid addition salts of lower alkyl sulphonic acids, phenyl sulphonic acids and phenyl-lower alkyl sulphonic acids with 2,21-diaminodibenzyl, and a process for preparing iminodibenzyl by pyrolyzing a mixture containing 2,21-diaminodibenzyl and a lower alkyl sulphonic acid, a phenyl sulphonic acid or a phenyl-lower alkyl sulphonic acid at 275 DEG to 310 DEG C. for 0.25 to 3 hours. The term "lower alkyl" is defined as an alkyl group containing up to eight carbon atoms. The 2,21-diaminodibenzyl and sulphonic acid may be brought together in admixture for the pyrolysis reaction by heating the 2,21-diaminodibenzyl until it is molten and then adding the sulphonic acid to the melt, or by merely intimately mixing the two components, or by forming a salt of the 2,21-diaminodibenzyl with the sulphonic acid.
