Abstract

985,573. Waterstops. DURATUBE & WIRE Ltd. Jan. 24, 1962 [March 27, 1961], No. 2589/62. Heading E1V. A waterstop for expansion &c. joints between concrete masses comprises a strip 2 of elastomeric material having half of its width split to form members 5 and 6 carrying complementary male and female formations 9 and 10 adapted to interlock when the members are brought together. In use the members 5 and 6 are spread apart and abutted against vertical framework (not shown) and separated by filler material (not shown) from concrete poured around the non split half of the waterstop. When this first pour has set the framework and filler material is removed, the arms are bent back and the members 9, 10 interlocked preparatory to a second pour of concrete. In a construction joint, the tubular portion 4 may be omitted. Specification 930,627 is referred to.
