985,477. Steering trailers; rest bars. W. T. TEAGLE. Sept. 6, 1963 [June 7, 1962], No. 22083/62. Headings B7H and B7J. [Also in Division B8] An agricultural elevator adapted to be coupled to one side of a towing vehicle has ground-engaging wheels which are steerable from the driving seat of the towing vehicle. As shown, wheels 3 are mounted for steering by a hand lever 11 connected to a king-pin arm by a drag link 24. The hand-lever may be locked in position by a spring-urged pin 30 which engages any one of a series of perforations 33 in a quadrant 34. Skids 7, 8 engage the ground during forward travel of the elevator and a pivotally mounted parking leg 9 is controlled by a cord 12 connected to the quadrant 34. The elevator includes members 4, 5, 16 for guiding bales &c. undergoing loading. With the leg 9 in the position shown, the forward end of the elevator is supported with the skids 7, 8 clear of the ground. When the elevator is moved forward, the leg collapses and the skids: engage the ground. After completion of operations the driver can move the leg 9 into its vertical supporting position by means of the cord 12. Specifications 842,488 and 860,152 are referred to.
