Abstract

984,616. Rising hinges. F. PUCHTLER. Feb. 17, 1964 [Feb. 16, 1963], No. 6541/64. Heading E2F. A rising door hinge has co-operating cams 18, 24 located at the ends of two bearing sleeves 2, 4 through which the bearing bolt 3 passes, each cam respectively being fast on the end of a guide tube 23, 25 which is inserted in its bearing sleeve and guides the bearing bolt. The guide tubes are made from brass or similar bearing metal and are firmly attached to the cams, which are made from steel or hard-chrome steel, by adhesive, soldering or by a press fit. Two bearing sleeves 4, 5 are formed at the side of flap 6 by bending the sheet metal, a bearing sleeve 2 being similarly formed at the side of flap 1. Axial grooves 9 in the sleeves 2, 4 engage with an extending nose 19 of the cams 18, 24 ensuring no movement of the cams relative to the sleeves. A guide sleeve 26 similar to the sleeves 23, 25 is inserted in the bearing sleeve 5. The bearing bolt 3 is provided with a nose 10 which engages with a slot 8 in the sleeve 4 and a screw 16 engages with a threaded bore in the opposite end 15. The space between the cams and the bearing bolt acts as a means for lubrication. The hinge is completed by the covers 29, 30, 31 which cover the sleeves 2, 4, 5 and have a slot 32 for the passage of the projections of flaps 1 and 6.
