Abstract

984,118. Gyratory crushers. NORDBERG MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 12, 1964, No. 5904/64. Heading B2A. A gyratory crusher comprises a normallystationary crushing bowl 18, a gyratory crushing head 26, and a rotary feed-distributer 42 above the crushing gap formed between the head and bowl and driven by means independent of the head and its driving means. The distributer 42 is suspended from a top platform 40, and includes an outer sleeve 48 supported for rotation by bearings 50 and bolted to a rotatable chamber 66 having top and bottom plates 70, 72 and a side opening 76, the plate 72 having an extension or lip 90. A gear ring 82 on the sleeve 48 is driven via a pinion 88 and a cog belt 84 by a motor 86. A central removable and replaceable liner 78, serving as a wear element, is provided in the sleeve 46, which forms the frame of the distributer. In operation, material to be crushed is fed into the rotating distributer and is discharged in a generally horizontal plane, so as to fall subsequently until it contacts the portion 36 of the feed cone 34 of the crusher.
