Roller-and-ring mills and apparatus.-In a centrifugal roller mill, the grinding-rollers k, Figs. 1 and 2, are carried in the compartments l of a wheel h, which forms the bottom of the grinding-chamber and is mounted on a vertical shaft d driven by bevel-gearing e, f from the driving-shaft g. The upper side of the wheel h slopes from the centre to the periphery and is provided with helical ribs m to direct the material fed in by the hopper v to the grinding-rollers k. The grinding-ring c is held in a jacket b fastened to the spider a, and a ring i free to move up and down in an annular recess in the jacket or grinding-ring forms a tight joint between the ring and the wheel. Any material that may pass between the bottom of the wheel and the ring is received in a receptacle u. Fan blades p mounted on a shaft r, which passes through the shaft d and is driven by bevel-gearing s, t, drive the flour &c. through the sieves n, o. Or the blades p may be mounted on the shaft d. The grinding-ring may be arranged to revolve.
