Abstract
983,728. Cleaning vehicle windscreens. LAVACRISTALLI FOREDIT S.p.A. Feb. 15, 1963, No. 6268/63. Heading A4F. [Also in Division F1] In a pump for motor vehicle windscreen washers the pump casing 1 is associated with an electric switch for operating the wipers, a pump control member and a switch member being interconnected so that actuation of the control member closes the switch and allows repeated operation of the pump without breaking the wiper operating circuit. A spring loaded plunger 13 actuates a flexible membrane 10 mounted inside the pump casing 1. As the plunger is depressed, a spring 36 moves a block 34 until contacts on a conductive bridge piece 35 meet contacts on plates 33. The spring 36 maintains the contacts closed while the rod 13 is reciprocated through a limited stroke. After pumping has ceased, a spring 43 returns the block 34 to close the circuit for re-setting the wipers.
