Abstract

983,558. Toys. LESNEY PRODUCTS & CO. Ltd. May 28, 1962 [June 13, 1961], No. 20500/62. Heading A6S. A toy vehicle comprises a side door rotatable about a vertical axis or axes disposed in the thickness of the vehicle body or door or behind and adjacent the inside face of the body or door. The door 1 has a portion 9 which engages behind a tongue 10 on the body 3 and has two pivots 7, 8 which rotate in the body 3 and chassis 5. The hinge 18 may be offset inwardly from the door and connected thereto by a bracket 19. The edges of the door and body are shaped to allow the door to pivot. The door may have a segment 22, Fig. 9, with a finger 24 which engages in an arcuate groove 25 in the vehicle chassis 5 or the door may have a part cylindrical lug which engages a rib on the body. The lug may be spring pressed to engage the rib or the rib may have projections which engage in recesses in the lug. The body may have a rib 28, Fig. 13, engaging in a groove 29 in the door which is connected by spring means 31 to a fixed part. The door may have an offset extension 32 which lies behind the body 3 and moves against the pressure of a spring 40 contacting an inclined surface 39. The body has a bevelled outer edge 42 and the door may have a recess in which a corner of the body engages to hold the door open.
