983,397. Furniture joints and frames. K. L. NEALE, and R. M. NEALE. Jan. 13, 1964 [Jan. 11, 1963], No. 1419/63. Heading A4W. A furniture framework and joint arrangement for tubular metal furniture comprises a U-shaped member 1 to which is welded a transverse concave plate 4 and a second member 2 of L-shape, the members being secured together by a nut and a bolt 14 passing through registering holes 8-12. In a modification Fig. 3, member 4 is a plate having projections 4a, 4b formed by pressing which causes corresponding depressions and member 2 has a similar plate 16 welded thereto, the projections 4b, 16a being fused to the respective members and the projections 4a, 16b engaging corresponding depressions in the other plate. Member 2 may also be U- shaped.
