[Also in Divisions B8 and H2] A ratchet mechanism for rotating a liquid-container support plate 14 (see Division B8), comprises a ratchet gear 148 secured to a shaft 126 and indexed around intermittently by means of a pawl 154 actuated by a solenoid 166. A pin 160 is fixed to the pawl 154 so that, when the solenoid is energized, the pawl is pivoted, against the action of a spring, to thereby cause the pin to engage a tooth 164 of the gear. Upon de-energization of the solenoid, the spring pivots the pawl so as to bring a second pin 162 into engagement with a tooth and thereby prevent overrun of the support plate.
