Pushers 16 carried on an endless chain 17 are adjustable about an axis corresponding with the direction of movement of the chain. The pushers extend through a slot 15 in a conveying surface 14 that may be inclined (as shown), or may be vertical (Fig. 3, not shown). In the latter case, stacks of sheets to be conveyed by the pushers 16 are retained in contact with the vertical surface by a suitable guide surface.
