Abstract

A crystalline olefin polymer comprises as stabilizer an aliphatic thioester, a polyphenol and a Ni phenate of an alkylphenol monosulphide. Preferred materials are polypropylene; didodecoyl or octadecoyl thiodiglycolate, or lauryl thiodipropionate; a nonylphenol/form-aldehyde condensate, a tris-hydroxyarylpropane or 4,41-thiobis (6-t.-Bu-m-cresol); and the Ni phenate of bis - p - t. - Bu - phenolmonosulphide. Optional ingredients are Ca, Zn and Al stearates and laurates, and TiO2. The products find application as fibre, filament, film and tape which may be stretched and thermally stabilized. Specifications 571,943 and 960,012 are referred to.
