Abstract

A crystalline polyolefin, e.g. isotactic polypropylene, is stabilized with a dialkyl phenol sulphide + a b -thioether of a propionic acid ester, ROOC-CH2-CH2-S-X, wherein R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or a substitution product thereof, and X is hydrocarbon, paramethoxyphenyl, parahydroxyphenyl, alcohol, ether, ester or aldehyde group, a sulphur containing hydrocarbon group (mercapto alkyl), an oxygen or sulpho-oxygen containing group (alkylpropionic group) or a hydrocarbon group containing sulphur and nitrogen (3-benzothiazyl mercaptopropionic group). In examples 4,41 - thiobis - 6 - tert. Bu - metacresol + lauryl thiodipropionate is used. Optional ingredients are solvents and calcium stearate.
