Abstract

982,224. Converting. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. June 7, 1963 [June 12, 1962], No. 22754/63. Heading H2F. The Specification relates to an electric supply arrangement for a data processing system which receives information in the form of amplitude modulated pulses and eliminates the pulse frequency and its harmonics with a low-pass filter, thus obtaining the envelope of the pulse train. According to the invention the supply arrangement includes an inverter driven by an oscillator having a natural frequency equal to the pulse repetition frequency or an integral multiple thereof. The supply arrangement (reference 110 in Fig. 1) includes an inverter 120, driven through the amplifier 112 by the oscillator 111, which converts direct current from a battery 130 to alternating current at 14. If required the inverter output may be rectified at 113 to provide a direct current supply also. The oscillator is synchronized by a signal supplied at 16 from the data processing system. The inverter 120 comprises two switching transistors and a transformer with centre-tapped primary connected in biphase arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown). The data processing system may be a pulse radar apparatus in which echoes from fixed objects are eliminated by accepting only the Doppler frequency component.
