981,866. Awning blinds; stays for hinged articles; hinges. J. T. L. COOPE, and J. W. COOPE. June 8, 1961 [March 23, 1960], No. 10270/60. Headings E1J and E2F. A mounting of the type described in Specification 824,356 for each supporting arm 1 for an awning type blind with the lath 22 at the end of the arms 41 which are mounted in the blind box 2 on a double hinged mounting 3, 4, (the hinge pins 3, 4 being at right angles to each other) to fold away and open in a horizontal or inclined plane into and out of the box includes arm adjusting means to give adjustment for head clearance comprising a bolt 17 with a screwthreaded adjusting member 21 having a loading spring 20 between the member 21 and a bearer element 19 engaging a plate 9 fixed in the box through which bearer element the bolt 17 freely passes and a flexible chain 14 between the bolt 17 and a shackle 13 located on the pin 4 of the double hinged mounting, between the bifurcations of the arm 1 pivoting on the pin 4. The chain 14 passes around a guide pulley 15 carried by a bracket 16 with interposed alignment springs and mounted on the box so that the bolt 17 is at right angles to the arm 1 when extended, which enables the adjusting means to be located in a horizontal plane within the box beneath the blind. In an alternative form the arm 1 is hinged to a plate bracket carried by the pin 3 and the chain 14 connected to the plate bracket.
