[Also in Division B8] An opener for kirbygrips comprises a channel member 12 of rigid material, e.g. plastic, having a plane surface 14 intersecting a concave surface 16 at an edge 17 the included acute angle being greater than the angle between the straight and kicked up ends 26, 28 of the legs of a grip which are splayed when the grip is pressed down on the opener. The ends of the legs have enlarged cushion head 30 of plastic or rubber and the grip is retained in the opened position by frictional engagement of one of the cushions with ribs 35 on the surface 14 and of an elastic insert 36 in an edge 19, parallel to the edge 17, with a crimp in the other leg of the grip. Side ribs 45 and a rail 40, formed by a convex lip 42 supported by end members 43 at a distance from the edge 17 insufficient for entrance of both heads 30, orientate the movement of the end 26 on to the surface 16. As shown the opener is mounted by a block 47 on a base plate 15 beside a dispenser 10 which consists of a container 50 into which a number of grips are placed with the downwardly directed free ends of the legs resting on the concave base surface. The base is apertured at 59 for passage therethrough of a stem 68 when the container is manually pressed into a lower sleeve member 51 against the action of the spring 10 the dished end of the stem engaging the angle between the free ends of the legs of a grip to raise it and, by virtue of the concave surface 63 in a removable lid 61, the looped end of the grip is presented through the aperture 65 for removal, opening on the opener and use by the fingers of one hand.
