Abstract

981,155. Pipe joints. PARAGON PLASTICS Ltd. July 23, 1962 [Aug. 25, 1961], No. 30803/61. Heading F2G. Means for forming an expansible and contractible pipe joint for plastic pipes comprises a screw-threaded body 10 having a flow passage 12, 14, a flanged pipe end 11, a plastic compression ring 18 and a screw-threaded clamping nut 22. The flanged pipe 11 slidably fits in the enlarged bore 12 in the body 10 while the compression ring 18 slides on the pipe 11 and abuts the pipe flange 13 and has two coned surfaces 19, 20, one surface 19 engaging on the coned surface 16 of the body 10, the other 20 engaging on the coned surface 21 of the nut 22 when the nut is screwed on to the body. The bore 12 allows axial movement of the pipe 11 under thermal expansion and contraction.
